Getting New Furniture

Have you ever had a guest in your home tell you that your furniture is outdated?  When you have friends and family over during the holiday season, you want to make sure your house is decorated with the most updated and elegant furniture.  This may include replacing your outdated sofa, chairs, kitchen table and more.

Furniture is typically the last piece of a home remodeling project because it is usually the most expensive.  Once you have replaced the other elements of your house during the remodeling project, the last thing you want to think about is purchasing furniture.  However, furniture is necessary for a complete home remodeling project.  If you have furniture that is more than ten years old, it will most likely be dirty or have significant rips and tears.  Any furniture you notice with these attributes should be replaced during your home remodel.

I have been in my home since 1992 and have had all of the same furniture for years.  Earlier this summer, I decided to remodel my kitchen and bathroom.  My remodeling made my house look great, but it was easy to tell that my furniture was outdated.  When my son-in-law was here over Thanksgiving, we noticed a large rip in my living room sofa.  The kids told me it was probably time to update all of my furniture to the new, classy looking furniture that they have in their homes.  I decided to take their advice and I began budgeting to update my sofa, recliner, chairs and kitchen table.  I was looking at spending somewhere around $3,000, which I was okay with because I really needed new furniture.

My son-in-law took to me to a few different furniture stores to check out different items of furniture and see if it would be within my budget.  Thankfully, I found a brand of furniture that looked elegant, unique and classy.  It was also within in my budget, so I decided I would be updating all of the furniture in my house with this brand.  Once I finished all of my remodeling and had my new furniture in my house, I felt like I had the best looking house on the block.  My kids were very pleased with the way the house looked and I have been receiving compliments from all of my neighbors. – Brenda Wright

A Complete Kitchen Overhaul

If you have been in a home that has had the kitchen in it since the home was first built, it may be time for a new kitchen.  In Denver, homes built in the 1950s or before likely have the same kitchen in them when the home was first built.  Not only does an outdated kitchen pose a safety hazard to you and your family, but it is also cosmetically unappealing.

A new kitchen should be the top priority when you are remodeling the interior of your home.  The kitchen of any home is an area that sees a lot of traffic; traffic for your spouse, kids, friends and even pets.  It is likely that the kitchen flooring has been damaged and your cabinets are outdated.  To remedy this situation, it is recommended that you start a remodeling project.  A complete kitchen overhaul will cover everything in your kitchen.  From your kitchen appliances to the tile or linoleum on your kitchen’s floor, everything should be replaced.  So, where do you start on such a large project?

Remodeling experts recommend that a complete kitchen overhaul begin with replacing your kitchen cabinets.  When you are replacing your kitchen cabinets, Denver kitchen experts recommend you use a pattern of wood that is currently in style.  Updating your kitchen cabinets is a great way to make your kitchen look elegant and new again.  You will need to remove your old cabinets and install new ones.  You can find new kitchen cabinets at a cabinetry store or a store that helps with kitchen remodeling.

Next, you will want to replace or update all of your appliances.  The first appliance to replace is your refrigerator.  Although it is the biggest and most expensive appliance to replace, it will help to make your kitchen look brand new again.  Choose from a wide selection of refrigerators at your local appliance store.  From there, move on to replacing your toaster, microwave, coffee maker, dish washer and blender.  Simply replacing these appliances will give your kitchen a new look and feel.

Finally, your Denver kitchen remodel project should replace the flooring in your kitchen.  Most older homes in Denver were built with hardwood flooring or linoleum.  It is very likely that the flooring is old and needs to be replaced immediately.  Begin by removing all of the flooring in your kitchen right away.  Advise your friends and family that you are replacing the flooring so they should not attempt to travel through the kitchen during this process.  Select a flooring pattern from your local flooring or hardware store that will fit the schema of the rest of the kitchen.

Renting a Trailer to Haul Remodeling Materials

When you are in the midst of remodeling your home, whether it is on the interior or exterior, a challenge you will face is hauling a lot of materials.  You will be responsible for lumber, tools, cabinetry and more.  One of the easiest ways we have found to haul a load of materials or items that have been removed from your house (i.e. kitchen sink, bathroom cabinets, countertops, etc.) is to rent a large trailer from a reputable trailer sales center in the Denver metro area.

Whether you are in horse country in El Paso county or in downtown Denver, using a trailer to transport your materials from a remodeling job will make things easier.  Depending on your budget, you can choose to rent a trailer or buy a trailer (if you plan to use it often).  There are many businesses that have trailers for sale in Colorado, so you should not have an issue find the right trailer for you.

When you begin remodeling your kitchen, bathroom or bedroom(s), you will want to carry everything outside.  You should avoid leaving materials in the remodeling room because they could damage other areas of the room.  Having a trailer will make your life much easier and you can simply dump all of your materials.  Once you are finished remodeling for the day, simply take the trailer to a waste or recycling facility and empty the trailer.  This will be a quick way to get your home remodeled and to dispose of your old fixtures.

If you plan to remodel soon and need a place to rent trailers, Denver has several businesses that allow you to do so.  If you have the budget, you may want to find a place that sells Denver trailers.
